This issue is dedicated to Selections’ very own special Cultural Narratives project, a collection of 20x20cm works by emerging and established artists from the region.
This project began life in 2015 and was first exhibited at the Beirut Art Fair. Later, the show travelled to the UAE for an exhibition at Alserkal Avenue, and then later graced the walls at the Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) in Kuwait.
Over the years, the collection has continued to grow, and we are committed to continuing to share it through more exhibitions in the coming years, to allow viewers to take in as  much as possible of the artists currently working across the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf regions.
On this note, we are excited to announce the next show, which will take place during MENART Fair, from February 3-5, 2023, at Villa Empain in Brussels, Belgium. The Villa Empain is an impressive building designed in the Art Deco style, a former private residence transformed into a cultural centre and exhibition space, owned by the Boghossian Foundation.
MENART Fair first began in Paris in 2021, as a continuation of the acclaimed Beirut Art Fair that had been founded in 2010. Following the devastating explosion of August 4, 2020, that struck Beirut, Laure d’Hauteville, the Beirut Art Fair founder and close friend of Selections, took her venture to Paris and expanded on her mission by propelling the work of artists and galleries from the MENA region further. We are thrilled to be part of this adventure and as such our current issue is fully dedicated to this collaboration. For the occasion, we will be transporting 60 works to be shown in Brussels.
